Heidricks True Value Store Hosts the Chamber Weekly Coffee on May 22

Join us for Chamber Coffee

hosted by

Heidrick’s True Value

Thursday, May 22nd

8am

at

Heidrick’s True Value

1508 S. National Ave.

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee hosted by Heidrick’s True Value, 1508 S. National Ave., this Thursday, May 20th at 8am. Coffee, juice, and refreshments will be served, and attendees may register to win a special drawing.

Heidrick’s True Value in Fort Scott will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this September, as the store opened in 1975 as a second location to Heidrick’s in Girard, established in 1947. Heidrick’s is locally owned by Dennis Heidrick, the 3rd generation to own the business, and the Fort Scott store is managed by Dennis’ sister, Nancy Hofer, with a team that is eager to assist with DIY home improvement projects, tools, hardware, equipment, appliances and more. Whether you are a pro or taking on a project for the first time, Heidrick’s is in the neighborhood with advice and products to get the job completed.

Heidrick’s currently has a wide variety of flowers, shrubs, mulch, pots, and everything needed for spring planting. Inside the store features Nancy’s gift corner with home decor, candles, collectibles, and more.

Contact the Chamber of Commerce at (620) 223-3566 for more information. Visit the Events Calendar and category of Chamber Coffees on fortscott.com for upcoming locations.

Chamber Coffee Hosted by Shead Farm on May 15

Join us for Chamber Coffee

hosted by

Shead Farm

Thursday, May 15th

8am

at the

Shead Farm

2468 Cavalry Road

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee hosted by Shead Farm, 2468 Cavalry Road, this Thursday, May 15th at 8am. Coffee, juice, and refreshments will be served, and attendees may register to win a special drawing.

Shead Farm is hosting their 5th Annual Shead Farm Homestead Festival this Saturday, May 17th, from 10am-5pm. There will be music, children’s activities, farm tours, a farm store, vendor booths, and a food court. The festival is a wonderful outing that ALL ages will enjoy. Admission is $5 for a single ticket or $25 for a family pass of 5 or more family members.

The Shead farm, established by Larry Shead’s ancestors, the Burckley family, has been home to Larry and wife Vickie since 1978. The couple shares a passion for gardening, and their annual festival, now in its 5th year, aims to inspire others to grow their own food. The festival also seeks to foster a deeper connection between the source of food and the providers of our needs. Through the event, the Shead’s hope to encourage others to embrace a closer relationship with both their food and their faith.

Directions to the Shead Farm from Fort Scott are to drive south on Highway 69 to Cavalry Road, turn east and follow the signs. The farm is approximately a 20-minute drive from Fort Scott, so the Chamber suggests attendees leave town by 7:40am to arrive on time.

Contact the Chamber of Commerce at (620) 223-3566 for more information. Visit the Events Calendar and category of Chamber Coffees on fortscott.com for upcoming locations.

Chamber Coffee Hosted by Conservation District on April 24

Join us for Chamber Coffee

hosted by the

Bourbon County Conservation District

Thursday, April 24th

8am

at

Bourbon County Conservation District

1515 S. Judson St.

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee hosted by Bourbon County Conservation District, 1515 S. Judson St., Thursday, April 24th at 8 a.m. Coffee, juice, and light refreshments will be served.

The Dust Bowl of the 1930’s began a movement to address the erosion of the earth’s topsoil. Hugh Hammond Bennett is recognized as the “Father of Conservation” for founding the Soil Conservation Service in 1933, now known as the Natural Resources Conservation Service. His work led to the establishment of over 3,000 Conservation Districts in the USA, highlighting his significant impact on conservation efforts in the country.

The Bourbon County Conservation District was formed on May 11th, 1945 with the mission of “Protecting what we have today to have something left for tomorrow”. This year the BBCD is celebrating the District’s 80th year. They are committed to continuing to help landowners preserve and protect their natural resources of soil & water. District Manager Mandy Shoemaker and the Conservation District Board are excited to host the Chamber coffee and welcome everyone to attend.

Chamber members and guests are invited to Chamber Coffee events each Thursday at 8 a.m. to network, make announcements, hear about happenings in the community as well as learn about the host business or organization. Future Chamber Coffee locations may be viewed on fortscott.com/events by selecting the category of Chamber Coffees.
