Undersheriff offered commissioner an escort after heated Oct. 19 exchange

The most heated exchange of the Oct. 19 Bourbon County Commission meeting came after the meeting adjourned.

FortScott.biz checked the transcript with several people who were in the room, both to confirm what they understood was said and to learn what happened after the video ended.

Just before the meeting adjourned, Commissioner Samuel Tran accused three fellow commissioners of agreeing on their votes outside the meeting and told them, “One day you’re going to get caught.” FortScott.biz reported on that accusation Oct. 23.

Samuel Tran: Grow a backbone, Gregg. Grow a backbone. That’s all I’ve got to tell you.

Gregg Motley: We’re adjourned.

Samuel Tran: You’re welcome. Good luck. We’re going to need it. Yeah, you can mad dog me all you want, David.

David Beerbower: Well, you know, the only thing I can say, Sam, is we didn’t get caught.

Samuel Tran: I’m right here, David. I’ll be out in the parking lot.

After that exchange, Undersheriff Kevin Davidson offered to escort Commissioner Gregg Motley to his car, Motley and others who were present told FortScott.biz. Motley declined. The undersheriff and Commissioner David Beerbower then began talking and walked to the parking lot together, those present said.

FortScott.biz sent messages to Commissioners Samuel Tran and David Beerbower asking whether they wanted to clarify what they said after the meeting. Neither had replied to those particular questions after six days.
