The Tennyson Creek Solar project by Doral Renewables is continuing its ongoing investment in Bourbon County by partnering with Uniontown USD 235 to establish a new annual scholarship program supporting local students.

Tennyson Creek Solar will fund this scholarship annually for four Uniontown High School seniors who participate in the school’s SunPowered Challenge program. The scholarship will help students pursue post-secondary education while recognizing their commitment to science-related fields, teamwork, and hands-on learning.

The SunPowered Challenge gives students the opportunity to design, build, and compete in solar-powered engineering projects, helping prepare them for future careers in STEM and skilled trades. Uniontown High School students interested in participating are encouraged to sign up for the SunPowered Challenge for the opportunity to compete and be considered for this annual scholarship; this year’s competition will be taking place in Spring 2027, with dates to be announced.

Vance Eden, Superintendent of Uniontown Schools, said the scholarship provides meaningful support for students as they take the next step in their education.

“This scholarship rewards students for their hard work and participation in an innovative, hands-on program while helping remove financial barriers to higher education,” Eden said. “We appreciate Doral Renewables’ commitment to investing in our students and our district.”
