Obituary of Domonic Robinson

Domonic Martinez Robinson

Domonic Martinez “Heavy” Robinson, age 27, a resident of Independence, Missouri, passed away late Friday, December 25, 2020, as the result of an automobile accident in Jackson County, Missouri.

He was born December 12, 1993, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Carl Joe Robinson, Jr. and Anicia Monique Lindsey Robinson.

Domonic graduated from the Uniontown High School in Uniontown, Kansas and later completed welding school in Nevada, Missouri. He was currently working as a welder for Boilermakers Local #83.

Domonic married Akilia Harris on July 21, 2017. Domonic was devoted to his family and provided well for their needs as well as others.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, collecting guns, and barbecuing. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and was a member of the United Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Akilia, of the home; and three sons, Jayden, Jordan and Khalil Robinson with one more son due to arrive in June.

He is also survived by his mother, Anicia Robinson, of Bronson, Kansas, his father, Carl J. “Pete” Robinson, Jr., of Ft. Scott, Kansas; three brothers, Du’Shaun Robinson and De’Vonte Robinson, both of Ft. Scott and Charles Harris, of Atlanta, Georgia, a sister, Da’Nisha Robinson, of Bronson, Kansas; his grandmothers, Helen Patterson of Ft. Scott and Alma Williams, of Bronson, two aunts, Ruthie Robinson and Charlene Williams, both of St. Louis, Missouri, an uncle, Christopher Lindsey, of Iola, Kansas, his father-in-law, William Harris and good friends, Mitchell Newman and Jordan Woods.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charles Williams and Carl Robinson, Sr., an uncle, John Whitworth and a good friend Brandon Weyant.

Rev. George Proctor and Rev. Marty Dewitt will conduct funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 9th at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Uniontown, Kansas.

Burial will follow in the Bronson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the church.

Obituary of Darla Bruner

Darla Dean Bruner, age 85, resident of Ft. Scott, KS, died Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the KU Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.

She was born November 29, 1935, in Seiling, OK, the daughter of Lewis and Gladys Bartell Mandersheid. She graduated from Humboldt, KS high school. She then attended Chanute Junior College and Pittsburg State College. She then taught grade school near Fredonia, KS. Darla married Elvis Willard Bruner on June 4, 1960, in Fredonia, KS. They moved to Ft. Scott in 1962.

He preceded her in death on July 20, 2018.

In 1973, she began working at Western Insurance and later American States Insurance until 1992. Later, she was employed by Med-Plans 2000 for several years.

Her greatest enjoyment was being with family and Christian friends, quilting, flower gardening, attending garage sales with Willard, and serving the Lord. Darla attended the Church of Christ, at 1900 Margrave.

She was the best of us and always put other first. We will miss her sweet smile and kind heart.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Graham and husband William, Joplin, MO, and Sharon Bruner, Roeland Park, KS; a son, Ernest Bruner and wife Stephanie, Overland Park, KS; 6 grandchildren, Lindsay Johnson, Cassandra Bailey, Jennifer Bruner, Khaled Graham, Donovan Graham, and Shanece Grimm; 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters; one brother; and her parents.

Private family services will be held. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Obituary of Varrell Leroy Forgey


Varrell Leroy Forgey, Jr. 91, of Fort Scott, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020, at the Presbyterian Village in Fort Scott. He was born October 11, 1929, in Sheldon, Missouri, the son of Varrell Leroy and Rose Ruth (Brown) Forgey. He married Shirley Louise White on December 30, 1950, in Benton, Arkansas, she preceded him in death on January 18, 2019.

He is survived by a daughter, Melinda Kay Sedelmeyer, and husband, Rob of Medina, Ohio, and a son, Virgil Bradley Forgey of Payson, Arizona, a sister, Ruth Arlene Eubank of Peoria, Arizona, 3 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Shirley.

The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church, donations may be sent to, or left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, P.O. Box 309, 15 W. Wall St., Fort Scott, Kansas 66701.

Rev. Steve Cole will conduct private graveside services at the Fort Scott National Cemetery Thursday, December 31, 2020.

Obituary of Wilma Rippee

Wilma Marie Rippee

Wilma Marie Rippee, age 93, resident of Prescott, KS, formerly of Ft. Scott, KS, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at her home.

She was born March 8, 1927, in Ft. Scott, the daughter of Harvey Wilkins and Marie Rose Wilkins. She graduated from FSHS with the class of 1945.

She married William Wesley Rippee on December 17, 1944, in Ft. Scott. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1958. Wilma worked for Western Insurance Company for 25 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Croan and husband Dean; Prescott, KS; a sister, Claribel Rose McLaughlin, Tulsa, OK; 4 grandchildren, Dena Thompson and husband Marty, Bill Dauben, Tamara Jefferson and husband Mark, and Amy Andrews and husband Dusty; and 7 great grandchildren, Brayden, Avery, and Brooklyn Dauben, Haley and Paige Jefferson, and Eli and Madison Andrews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Parker, and her parents.

 Due to COVID-19, the family has decided to cancel services.”

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Obituary of Joyce Wilkins

Joyce Elaine Wilkins, age 72, a resident of Bronson, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020, at the Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

She was born October 3, 1948, in Ft. Scott, Kansas, the daughter of William Faulhaber and Martha Babbit Faulhaber.

She married David Wilkins in January of 1970, at Topeka.  She was a member of the Bronson Baptist Church.  She was also a member of the Bronson Ruritan Club and had served as treasurer.  She enjoyed doing cross-stitch.

 

Survivors include her husband, David, of the home; and two children, Brenda Proehl (Shawn), of Rogers, Arkansas and Mark Wilkins (Michelle), of Lansing, Kansas; six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are her mother, Martha Faulhaber, of Ft. Scott and a brother, David Faulhaber, of Mapleton, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Janice Lutz.

 

There was cremation.  A memorial service with burial in the U. S. National Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Obituary of Barbara Marsh

Barbara Jean Marsh, age 86, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at her home.

She was born January 23, 1934, in Ft. Scott, the daughter of Lloyd K. Baysinger and Irene D. Shepard Baysinger.

Barbara graduated from the Ft. Scott High School.  She married Donald W. Marsh on February 24, 1961, in Miami, Oklahoma.

Barbara had worked for forty-five years for Key Work Clothes.  She began as a seamstress and later served as an inspector.  She was a member of the Grace Baptist Tabernacle and was currently attending St. John’s United Methodist Church.

Barbara enjoyed reading and taking the occasional drive-through Gunn Park with her husband, Donnie.  She was also an avid fan of racing and of the Kansas City Chiefs.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and made every effort to attend her grandchildren’s activities.  When health permitted, she enjoyed volunteering for Care to Share.

 

Survivors include her husband, Donnie, of the home; and her five children, Mike Simmons (Marsha), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jerry Simmons (Lavetta), Ft. Scott, Donnie Marsh (Sandy), Deerfield, Missouri, Ronnie Marsh (Mary), Ft. Scott and Tammy Miller (Doug), also of Ft. Scott.  Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Joyce Farmer, a brother, LeRoy Baysinger and a niece, Linda Alvater.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 28th at the Evergreen Cemetery.

Family and friends may meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel on Monday prior to leaving for the cemetery at 10:45 A.M.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday evening at the Cheney Witt Chapel.

Obituary of Bobby Dennis

Bobby John Dennis, age 89, a former resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas and more recently of Blue Ridge, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, at his home in Texas.

He was born March 21, 1931, in Mapleton, Kansas, the son of Hollie J. Dennis and Ella Blodgett Dennis.

He married Raylene Hall on August 5, 1951, in Ft. Scott.

Because of his service with the United States Air Force, Bob and Raylene made their home at various bases throughout the United States.  He later worked as an inventory specialist for the Civil Service for forty years.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

 

Survivors include his children Michael Dennis and John Dennis, both of McKinney, Texas, Mary Johnson of Hurricane, Utah and Holly Dennis, of Blue Ridge, Texas.

Bob’s wife, Raylene, preceded him in death on May 28, 2014.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, H. L. “Kid” Dennis and David Dennis and three sisters, Fern Shipley, Hazel Stoughton and Erma Clayton.

 

Private burial will take place in the U. S. National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, Kansas.

Obituary of Bob Sipe

Bob D. Sipe, age 87, a resident of rural Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020, at the Medicalodge in Ft. Scott.  He was born March 10, 1933, in Ft. Scott, the son of Harold Gano Sipe and Harriett Thelma Fitzgerald Sipe.

Bob married Joyce Beckford on December 3, 1950, at the Devon United Methodist Church

.  In earlier years, Bob helped his dad do carpentry work.  He later took a job with the Hercules Powder Company in DeSoto, Kansas where he worked for several years.  In 1973, Bob moved back to Ft. Scott where he worked for a short time for Bruce Marble and Granite Works and then for Mercy Hospital where he served as boiler operator for twenty-four years.  In addition to working at Mercy, Bob also operated his own farm.

Bob was a good man; he was always willing to help a friend or family member in need.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to auctions, but above all, he enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren.  They have many wonderful memories of Grandpa Bob telling stories, singing silly songs and exploring the family farm and the banks of Mill Creek on the jeep.  Bob was a member of the Devon United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star.

 

Survivors include his wife, Joyce, and their three children, Jeff Sipe (Candy), of Linwood, Kansas, Cheryl Ross, also of Linwood and Chana Marshall (Shawn), of Ft. Scott; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are a brother, John Sipe (Marilyn), of Ft. Scott and a sister, Patsy Vaughn of Nevada, Missouri as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Shirley Loubier and his son-in-law, Mark Ross.

 

There was cremation.

Obituary of Michael R. Conroy

Michael Richard Conroy, 71, of Fort Scott, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, December 19, 2020. He was born in Ottawa, Kansas, to Clarence Richard Conroy, Jr. and Mary Ann Welton Conroy. He moved to Fort Scott when he was ten years old.

He married his high school sweetheart Connie Sue Magee on July 19, 1969, in Fort Scott, Kansas, and she survives of the home. They are the proud parents to three sons, Brian (Jamie), Brent Michael (Crystal), and Matthew (Krista). They were blessed with eight grandchildren: Austin (Saundra), Patrick, Grace, Evan, Anna, Bailey, Jake, and Hunter.

Mike was a 1967 graduate of Fort Scott High School. He graduated from Fort Scott Community College in 1970. He attended two years at Pittsburg State in automotive technology. His first job was plant manager for Henkle Bottling Company. He worked several years for Norris Heating and Air Conditioning. He served on Fort Scott Rural Fire before joining the Fort Scott Fire Department in 1977. He worked there fifteen years and excelled at his job as a firefighter. He then was employed at Fort Scott U-234 on the maintenance staff at the high school for eleven years.

Mike was an avid sportsman all his life. He taught his sons and many of their friends the enjoyment of fishing and hunting. He was a friend to many and enjoyed helping others. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He attained his Eagle Scout at age fourteen, and was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife Connie and his three sons, their wives, and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sisters.

Adonis Lamonte Johnniel Brown

Adonis Lamonte Johnniel Brown, 6-day old son of Macretia Brown, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the Via Christi Emergency Room in Ft. Scott, Kansas.

He was born December 14, 2020, in Nevada, Missouri. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Adele and Avaya. Also surviving are his grandmother, LaToya Grant, great-grandmother, Willa Wilson, two uncles, Tabias Wilson and Eric Grant, an aunt, Synee Brown and a host of extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Monday, December 28th at the Cheney Witt Chapel.

Obituary of Patricia Enslow

Patricia Ann Enslow, age 62, resident of Redfield, KS, died Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS.

She was born on April 20, 1958, in Wichita, KS, the daughter of Miles Rollin Veach and Alexandria Elizabeth Christina Ure Veach. Patty, nicknamed Gypsy, enjoyed shopping and everything Christmas. She collected snowmen and snow globes and driving to see the Christmas lights. She was an avid watcher of all the Christmas shows on Hallmark television.

Patty loved her family and had the greatest joy in spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She was a free-spirited person who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include 3 sons, Corey Breese, Wichita, KS, Butch Burns (KayLynn), Redfield, KS, and Sylvester Burns, OK; 5 daughters, Katina Veach-Forwerck, OH, Christina Lucas, Frontenac, KS, Angela Hixon (Travis) Redfield, Heather Burns (Kalob Chaplin), Ft. Scott, KS, and Clara Burns, OK; a sister, Denice Kellum, Wichita; 18 grandchildren, Brian, Gage, Audra, Lorenza, Kristal, Alex, Angelica, Christina, Destiny, Jenna, Earnest, Libby, Mason, Harley, Christina Marie, Corey Jr., Joshua, and Vivian; 5 great grandchildren; 2 nephews; and her beloved Chihuahua, Todd Eugene.

She was preceded in death by a son, Joshua Veach; and her parents.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 23rd, at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
