The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee this Thursday, January 16th at 8am hosted by the Fort Scott Presbyterian Village, 2401 S. Horton St. Coffee, juice, and light refreshments will be served along with a giveaway drawing.

Fort Scott Presbyterian Village will be discussing their Angel Tree Appeal Campaign Fundraiser for their Good Samaritan Program. This program is a holiday season fundraising tradition that helps any resident who may have outlived their assets through no fault of their own. Fort Scott Presbyterian Village would like to remind the community of their 2025 Art is Ageless competition coming up in February. This event is an art competition that will exhibit all forms of art from drawing, fiber arts, mixed media/crafts, needlework/quilting, painting, photography, sculpture/3D, and more! This contest is open to all artists 65 and older. Amateur and Professional non-juried artists of all ages are welcome to exhibit. The deadline for entry is March 14, 2025. The art will be displayed on exhibit from March 19-April 2, 2025 in the first and second-floor lobby at the Fort Scott Presbyterian Village. The final reception event will be on March 25, 2025, 5:30-7pm in the Presbyterian Village Dining Room where a light dinner will be provided.

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee this Thursday, January 9th at 8am hosted by the Freedom Fitness, 15 S. National Ave. Coffee, juice, and light refreshments will be served along with a giveaway drawing.

January marks the one-year anniversary for Freedom Fitness, owned by John & Lindsay Hill. Freedom Fitness offer classes for all ages and abilities. Classes are scheduled weekdays at 5am, 6am, 11:15am, 4pm, 5:20pm, and 6pm with open gym available on Saturdays. Each class is taught and instructed by a coach. Anyone is welcome to come and try out a class at no charge.

Freedom Fitness celebrates the freedom to move your body and be healthy.

CHAMBER ANNOUNCES CHRISTMAS LIGHT TROLLEY TOURS

CHAMBER ANNOUNCES CHRISTMAS LIGHT TROLLEY TOURS

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that reservations are now being taken for the 2024 Dolly Hollyday Christmas Light Trolley Tours. The 50-minute tour is a fun outing for families, friends, or co-workers to see the most festive Christmas lights in Fort Scott.

Tours will run nightly from Thursday, December 12th through Monday, December 23rd.  There will be two tours each evening at 5:45 and 7pm.  There will be an additional 8:15pm tour if there is demand.

The cost of the Christmas Lights Trolley Tour is $8 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under, or the whole trolley may be booked for $125, seating up to twenty-two passengers. Those taking the tour are invited to arrive at the Chamber early for complimentary cookies, hot cocoa, and glow necklaces for the ride.

Horton St. The Coffee will take place in the Ellis Family Fine Arts Center. Coffee, juice, and light refreshments will be served along with a giveaway drawing.

Fort Scott Community College Foundation’s mission is to empower FSCC student success through philanthropic support, aligned with key FSCC institutional initiatives. Their vision is to be the philanthropic force supporting high-quality educational experiences for FSCC students of all backgrounds to help them improve the trajectory of their lives.

Since 1980, FSCC Foundation has given $7-plus million in scholarships. The foundation provides significant assistance to FSCC in the form of scholarships and special projects. The foundation is extremely grateful for the FSCC Alumni and Friends of FSCC, who are their greatest advocates and supporters.

2024 Christmas Parade Winners

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all who attended or participated in the 2024 Parade held Thursday, December 5th in the Downtown Historic District.

The theme was “A Storybook Christmas” and many of the entries did an exceptional job of coordinating with the theme.

The parade was sponsored by Briggs of Fort Scott.

The panel of judges selected the following winners out of sixty entries:

1st place as USD234 Tiger Special Olympics

2 nd place as Tri-Valley Developmental Services, and

3rd place as Fort Scott FFA.

The contribution of many is what makes events like the Christmas parade successful.
The Chamber is sincerely appreciative of all who volunteered, announced, judged, and otherwise had a part in the parade.
