The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting this Thursday, January 30th at 8am hosted by SparkWheel. The location is at the Fort Scott Middle School, 1105 E. 12th St., and attendees can arrive through the south entrance of the building. Coffee, juice, and light refreshments will be served along with a door prize drawing.

SparkWheel is an independent nonprofit partnering with Fort Scott Public Schools to provide a model of wrap-around services for middle school and high school students and their families. SparkWheel’s full-time staff member in each Fort Scott site works to deliver its mission to remove barriers and provide those we serve with the tools and resources they need to thrive, now and into the future. The collaboration between SparkWheel and USD 234 started in the 2018-19 school year at the High School and then added Middle School services in 2020.

As an independent nonprofit that is impact-focused, SparkWheel is a multi-state organization providing integrated student support services. Across the SparkWheel network, the organization serves more than 30,000 students in 64 sites. Primarily a school-based model of services, SparkWheel has broadened its range of services to include early childhood through post-secondary activities. SparkWheel’s programs across southeastern Kansas include those in Uniontown, Pittsburg, Chanute, Independence, Neodesha, and Parsons.

Horton Suite 2B. The location is in the Fort Scott Professional Building adjacent to the north of the hospital and attendees can arrive through the south doors. Coffee, juice, and light refreshments will be served along with a door prize drawing. The ribbon cutting will take place immediately following the Coffee to celebrate this new business and Chamber Champion member in our community.

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee this Thursday, January 16th at 8am hosted by the Fort Scott Presbyterian Village, 2401 S. Horton St. Coffee, juice, and light refreshments will be served along with a giveaway drawing.

Fort Scott Presbyterian Village will be discussing their Angel Tree Appeal Campaign Fundraiser for their Good Samaritan Program. This program is a holiday season fundraising tradition that helps any resident who may have outlived their assets through no fault of their own. You may reach out with questions to Marla Heckman, 620-223-5550 or [email protected] This program will conclude on January 18, 2025.

Fort Scott Presbyterian Village would like to remind the community of their 2025 Art is Ageless competition coming up in February. This event is an art competition that will exhibit all forms of art from drawing, fiber arts, mixed media/crafts, needlework/quilting, painting, photography, sculpture/3D, and more! This contest is open to all artists 65 and older. Amateur and Professional non-juried artists of all ages are welcome to exhibit. The deadline for entry is March 14, 2025. The art will be displayed on exhibit from March 19-April 2, 2025 in the first and second-floor lobby at the Fort Scott Presbyterian Village. The final reception event will be on March 25, 2025, 5:30-7pm in the Presbyterian Village Dining Room where a light dinner will be provided.

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce announces a Downtown Meet & Greet will be held Tuesday, January 14th at City State Bank, 202 Scott Ave., from 8 to 9am.

These informal, quarterly meetings are hosted by the Chamber for downtown business owners, representatives, and community members to network and share ideas on events, promotions and anything related to downtown.

Coffee, juice, and light refreshments will be served.

Freedom Fitness Hosts Chamber Coffee on January 9

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee this Thursday, January 9th at 8am hosted by the Freedom Fitness, 15 S. National Ave. Coffee, juice, and light refreshments will be served along with a giveaway drawing.

January marks the one-year anniversary for Freedom Fitness, owned by John & Lindsay Hill. Freedom Fitness offer classes for all ages and abilities. Classes are scheduled weekdays at 5am, 6am, 11:15am, 4pm, 5:20pm, and 6pm with open gym available on Saturdays. Each class is taught and instructed by a coach. Anyone is welcome to come and try out a class at no charge.

Freedom Fitness celebrates the freedom to move your body and be healthy.

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee this Thursday, December 19th at 8am hosted by the City of Fort Scott, 123 S. Main St. Coffee, juice, and light refreshments will be served along with a giveaway drawing.

At this week’s Coffee, City Manager Brad Matkin will present the End of Year Accomplishments and give a preview of what’s to come for 2025.
