Avenue of Flags

The Avenue of Flags will be posted on Veterans Day at 7:00 a.m., led by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #1165 and volunteers. At 4:00 p.m. the flags will be recovered and stored for the winter months.

The Avenue of Flags runs the entire length of East National Avenue and through Fort Scott National Cemetery. It was begun by members honoring World War I and II veterans, continued by the Korean and Vietnam veterans of the post, and carried on today by the Post and Post Auxiliary members with the support of the Fort Scott Fire Department and other civic-minded volunteers.
