Harold Leroy Hull, age 76, resident of Ft. Scott, KS, died early Tuesday, December 06, 2022, in Groves, TX.  Services for Harold Hull will be announced by the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main.

 

 

Philip Ray Hinderliter, 74, of Fort Scott, passed away December 4, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas.  Funeral arrangements for Philip Ray Hinderliter are incomplete and will be announced later by the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.

 

Dale Wayne McGrew, age 88, resident of Pittsburg, KS, died Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Guest Home Estates, Pittsburg.  He was born June 2, 1934, in Fort Scott, KS, the son of Tom Clarence and Maud Mae Carson McGrew.  Dale grew up on the farm with 1 brother Jack, and 5 sisters, Thelma, Naomi, Lela, Pauline, and Etta.  He graduated FSHS with the class of 1952.

He enlisted in the Army and served in Maine as a sky sweeper watching for incoming enemy aircraft.

Dale worked for Citizens National Bank as a loan officer, Lexington Bank as a treasurer, then opened his own his own finance business Central Finance Company.

He was active in the Jaycees and was very involved in his church, Grace Baptist Tabernacle.

He was a licensed pilot and flew many friends and church family.

He enjoyed hunting, raising cattle, and carpentry/woodworking.

Dale remodeled the family homes and made furniture.

Dale traveled, living in a houseboat he built.  He lived in Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, and California until he missed the greenery and trees of Kansas.  He lived his last years at Guest Home Estates where they provided a caring family atmosphere.  Dale was married twice, first to Carolyn Burke until they divorced, and later to Connie Hildebrand.

 

Survivors include 4 children, David Dale McGrew, Colorado, Christine Lea Brown, Pittsburg, KS, Mark Scott McGrew, Montana, and Tamela Gail Phalen, Kansas City; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct funeral services at 11:30 AM Friday, December 9^th, at the Cheney Witt Chapel.

Burial will follow in the U. S. National Cemetery.

Donald (Don)Charles Madison, age 77, a resident of Wichita, Kansas, went to his Heavenly home, Tuesday, November 29, 2022. He was born November 23, 1945, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Charles W. Madison and Mary E. Alliston Madison. Don grew up in Wichita and graduated from East High School in 1963. He graduated in 1970 with a BS in Agricultural Economics from K-State University.

After graduating, he worked as feed salesman. While making a sales call at the Fursman Ranch near, Welda, Kansas, Don got acquainted with the rancher’s daughter, Sharon. A relationship began and they were married August 8, 1970 at the First Christian Church in Garnett, Kansas. Don and Sharon made their home in Parsons, Kansas, and later owned and operated their own farm near Erie, Kansas from 1973 to 1982.

In 1979, began a career with the USDA. His career moved the family to Oakley and Seneca, Kansas, and finally to Iola, Kansas, where he remained until his retirement in 2006.

When he was twelve, Don accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Church was always an important part of his family’s life. While in Iola, Don was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served in several leadership capacities. After moving to Wichita, he became an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and volunteered his time with various ministries of the church. He was also a member of Gideons International for many years.

In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling and camping as well as woodworking but above all he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s many activities. Don will be remembered for having a servant’s heart. He always put others’ needs above his own. His family finds comfort knowing that he is now in the presence of Jesus.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of the home and his three children, Joan Kramer (Tim) of Wichita, Tom Madison (Kitty) also of Wichita and Karen Traynor (Kip) of Walnut Cove, North Carolina, and eight grandchildren; Ashley Kramer, Catherine, Sam, and Elizabeth Madison and Robert, Rowan, Rachel and Rafe Traynor.

Also surviving are a brother, Robert Madison (Beverly) of Goodland, Kansas, and a sister, Maratha Nash (Paul) of Oxford, Kansas, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sylvia, and his in-laws, Bob and Francis Fursman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 6th at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1415 S. Topeka Ave., Wichita, Kansas.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 A.M. until service time at the church.

A graveside service will be held later that afternoon at 2:30 at the Colony Cemetery in Colony, Kansas.

Larry Gene Ruble, age 79, resident of Fort Scott, KS, died peacefully Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at his home, surrounded by family.  He was born November 26, 1943, in Fort Scott, the son of Ray and Mildred Lucille Neth Ruble.  He graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1961.  Larry attended Fort Scott Junior College for one year before beginning his career in the printing industry.  He worked his first 10 years for Mid America Business Forms and the next 21 years with Ward-Kraft Business Forms until retirement.

Larry married Janie Mae Davidson on June 17, 1966, and enjoyed 37 years together, remaining friends the remainder of her life.  Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He also enjoyed baseball, softball, team roping, bowling, golf, and playing poker (for over 50 years).

 

Survivors include a son, David Ruble and wife Angie, Minneapolis, KS; a daughter, Janette Boone and husband Cline, Shawnee, KS; a brother, Danny Ruble and wife Carol, Fort Scott; 7 grandchildren, Brooks Danahy, Claire Boone Lockwood and husband Braden, Cline E. Boone, Olivia Boone, Eleanor Boone, Wayne Ruble, and Mason Ruble; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his previous wife Janie, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Dosstter, and his parents.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 6^th, at the Cheney Witt Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Frances Corinne Oskee, age 99, a former resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas and more recently of Nevada, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 28, 2022, at the Medicalodge of Nevada. She was born July 7, 1923, in Fulton, Kansas, the daughter of Henry Lawrence Bloesser and Kittie Frances Martin Bloesser. Corinne attended grade school in Stotesbury, Missouri and graduated from the Stotesbury High School with the Class of 1940. She married Albert Mark Oskee on January 21, 1951, at the West Liberty United Methodist Church. In earlier years, Corinne worked as a seamstress at Key Work Clothes. She later took a position with the Western Insurance Company where she worked in the Comp. and Liability Department for over thirty years. She was a longtime member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church. Music was always an important part of Corinne’s life. She served as church pianist for over fifty years. She also performed with the Crazy Eight Music Group which performed at many area socials and civic events. She had been active with the Fulton Eastern Star, the Stotesbury Grange, and the Hume Lions Club as well as the Old Forters Camping Club.

 

Corinne was preceded in death by her husband, Mark, on November 20, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jim, Joe and Bob Bloesser and a sister, Mary Buckles. Survivors include a niece, Nancy McCrery and a nephew, Larry Buckles; and great-nieces and great-nephews including her care giver, Crystal Bearce as well as Eric McCrery, Kim Dade and Kerry Jennings.

Teresa Marie Wunderly, 55, of Fulton, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Girard Medical Center. She was born July 12, 1967, in Fort Scott, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Frederick Wunderly and Elizabeth Ann (Noggle) Wunderly.

 

Teresa worked with Ace Hardware stores for twenty-two years with five of those at Cronister’s Ace in Girard, Kansas, and seventeen at Mayco Ace in Fort Scott. She also drove a school bus for Fort Scott U234 for seventeen years, and was a member of the Fulton United Methodist Church.

 

Survivors include her mother, Elizabeth (Wunderly) Freeman, of Fulton, Kansas; two sisters, Brenda Wunderly and Betty Wunderly, and a brother, Hugh Wunderly, all of Fulton; a niece, a nephew, 1 great-niece, and 4 great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Wunderly, and an infant brother, David Wunderly.

Donna Bea Nabus, age 74, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at her home. She was born October 30, 1948, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Maurice Tharp and Jane Dunlap Tharp. Donna lived the majority of her life in the Topeka area where she worked as a certified nurse’s aide at area nursing homes.

Survivors include her son, Robert Thornsberry of Aliso Viejo, California and her two granddaughters, Madison and Sydney Thornsberry. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Sandra E. Barlow, age 76, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022, at her home.

She was born December 2, 1945, in Ft. Scott, the daughter of Raymond L. “Jack” Barlow and Ardeline R. Milford Barlow.

Sandy graduated from the Ft. Scott High School in with the Class of 1963.  She went on to complete business college in Kansas City.  Sandy remained in the city where she worked for Merrill Lynch for nine years and as a legal secretary and office administrator for a law firm for twenty-three years.

Following retirement, Sandy returned to Ft. Scott to be near her mother.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Sandy liked to read, tend to her flowers and do photography.  She also enjoyed traveling, especially taking trips to visit her family in the Chicago area for the holidays.

After several years, Sandy was once again reunited with her parents and brother on Thanksgiving Day.

 

Sandy is survived by her sister-in-law, Donna Barlow; and two nieces, Carrie Lubomski (Neil) and their daughters, Madilyn and Sophia and Lindsey Good (Tim) and their children, Haley and Logan.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Barlow, her mother and stepfather, Ardie and Chet Ober and her brother, Ron Barlow.

Louise G. Hall, age 91, resident of Uniontown, KS, more recently of Arma, KS, died Friday, November 25, 2022, at the Girard Medical Center, Girard, KS.

She was born March 10, 1931, in Girard, the daughter of Anton and Anna Hober Gobl.

She liked working with the family’s Hereford cattle.  Louise graduated from Uniontown High School.

She married Marvin Hall on May 24, 1952, in Ft. Scott, KS.  He preceded her in death on May 9, 2011.

She worked for Western Insurance Company in Ft. Scott before beginning with Citizens National Bank where she worked for many years.

Louise enjoyed traveling with Marvin to horse pulls and horse trades.  She also enjoyed vegetable gardening and going to family activities and ballgames.  She liked watching baseball games (especially the Royals) and golf on television.  She also liked attending dances just to watch others having a good time.

 

Survivors include her 3 children, Gary Hall (Jackie), Redfield, KS, Brenda Gleason (Kevin) Uniontown, KS, and Linda Essary (Marty), Marshfield, MO; 5 grandchildren, Tarin Essary, Caleb Essary (Stephanie), Tyler Hall (Heather), Reed Gleason (Kenzie), and Chase Gleason (Aubrey); 12 great grandchildren, Abigail Chilson, Raydn Chilson, Avery Chilson, Gracie Essary, Gunner Essary, Kiersten Akers, Maggie Akers, Derek Akers, Landry Gleason, Wade Hall, Bristyl Hall, and Jessa Hall; and one more on the way; and a sister-in-law Joyce Gobl

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Gobl, and her parents.

Mary Alice Adamson, age 80, a resident of Fort Scott, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Presbyterian Village.

She was born July 31, 1942, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Ernest Daniel Henderson and Margaret Eugenia Johnson Henderson.

Mary graduated from Blue Mound High School. She married Jack Adamson on January 11, 1964 in Miami, Oklahoma.

She loved to attend garage sales, crochet and visit with friends and family on the telephone. Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

 

Mary is survived by her children, Doug Adamson and wife Carol, of Fort Scott, Melissa Davis and husband Ron, of Butler, Missouri; grandchildren, Joshua Adamson and wife Stacey, of Wichita, Kansas, Ashley Adamson (Carl) of Fort Scott, Kansas, Ethan Clark and wife Amanda, of Paola, Kansas; step-grandchildren, Terri Manley, Cody Davis, Ronna Davis; great-grandchildren, Kasen and Atley Clark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, and a sister Judy Long.
