Chamber Announces Love Local & Chocolate Crawl Shopping Event

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce announces a Love Local & Chocolate Crawl shopping event will take place on Saturday, February 12th.

Most stores in the Downtown Historic District and several additional locations will be participating in the fun.

Customers are invited to shop local retailers while sampling a variety of chocolate treats along the way, and many will also be offering drawings and promotions.

Locations included in the event will have a Chocolate Crawl poster and red and white balloons displayed at their entrance.

The Chamber encourages the community to shop local, love local and join the Chocolate Crawl on February 12th to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce presents the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for
The Beauty Lounge
Thursday, February 3rd, 4-8pm

The remarks & cutting of the ribbon will take place at 4pm with everyone welcome to come and go throughout the remainder of the event.
The Beauty Lounge started as The Skin Lounge in December 2021 by Tuker Ross. Since then, she has added her friend and business partner Aubrey Zillner as a full-time hair stylist, and renamed the new venture “They Beauty Lounge”. Both girls are natives of Fort Scott, and look forward to serving the community.
The Beauty Lounge will now be offering facials, lash and brow services, waxing, spray tans, hair cuts (women, men & children), highlights, perms, deep conditioning treatments, and more. They will also offer a full retail bar where they can customize skin, hair or body care products for their customers.

Shop local retailers celebrating Kansas Day, January 29th, 2022


The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce announces participating retailers that will be offering a shopping promotion to celebrate Kansas Day on Saturday, January 29th. Patrons wearing apparel with Kansas or a sunflower will receive 10% off their purchase. Participating stores will have a Kansas Day poster in their place of business.
Kansas Day commemorates The Sunflower State being the 34th state to enter the Union in 1861. The Chamber encourages shoppers to celebrate Kansas Day and thank a local store owner for doing business in our great state.
In addition to this local shopping promotion organized by the Chamber, Kansas Tourism invites Kansans to Give a Toast to the Sunflower State on Kansas Day and post their own tribute to the 34th state to social media using the hashtag #ToTheStarsKS Contact the Chamber for more information at 620-223-3566.

 Chamber Coffee hosted by the Friends of Fort Scott NHS


The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee this Thursday, January 27th at 8 a.m. hosted by Friends of Fort Scott NHS.

It will be held at First United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall, located at 301 S National Ave. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

Friends of Fort Scott National Historic Site’s mission is to be a friend of the National Historic Site and their primary purpose is to support the National Historic Site in a partnership through activities that may include fundraising, volunteerism, education, advocacy and research. To do that they need to raise funds and they raise funds through their Flag Subscription Program.

They are kicking off their 2022 Flag Subscription Program in January.

For the last three years, they have put a full size flag in front of the homes of subscribers for the 5 flag holidays — Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and Veteran’s Day.

Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce Presents the Chamber Networking Workshop: How to Build Professional Relationships by Tammy Wellbrock.

Join us at Empress Event Center located at 7 N. Main St., Fort Scott, KS on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 9 am until 12 pm. to take advantage of this workshop.

From her days of selling advertising for the newspaper industry, increasing alumni memberships at her alma mater, creating customer networks in the telecommunications industry, or teaching for FHSU, Tammy Wellbrock is passionate about connecting, enlightening, and empowering others. Tammy served 8 years as the President/CEO for the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce. Under her direction, the Chamber was a 2013 ACCE Finalist for Chamber of the Year.

In 2019, Tammy launched her professional training and coaching business, Girl Twin Solutions, LLC, which focuses on Women and Leadership. Another aspect of her business includes serving as Interim President/CEO’s for several different positions over the years, including Fort Hays State University Alumni Association, Colby/Thomas County Chamber of Commerce and Pratt Area Chamber of Commerce. She enjoys the challenge of leading organizations through transformational change.

This workshop begins with the philosophy that all people have unique value to offer others as well as a foundation of skills and successes. Being able to present yourself in an authentic, genuine, and engaging manner is the most effective tool for professional networking and building relationships.

Chamber Coffee hosted by Spyder, Inc. Jan. 20


The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee this Thursday, January 20th at 8 a.m. hosted by new Chamber member Spyder, Inc., located at 102 W. 2nd Street.

Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

Spyder, Inc combines their experience of solutions, compliance, and technology together to launch an eCommerce portal and document storage solution purpose-built for insurance agents and financial service providers that makes their job of selling, growing, and managing their business easier.

Spyder is a female-founded business whose leaders offer deep fintech experience, both designing software and growing companies. They are passionate about their products and what they can do for the insurance and financial service industries. Their belief is to improve the lives of their clients, their employees, and their community by serving them in the highest level of regard. Chamber Coffee hosted by The Gordon Parks Museum


The Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and guests to a Chamber Coffee this Thursday, January 13th at 8 a.m. hosted by The Gordon Parks Museum, on the campus of Fort Scott Community College, 2108 S. Horton.

The Chamber Coffee will be in the Ellis Fine Arts Center. Coffee, juice, and light refreshments will be provided.

The Chamber Coffee will be the kick-off event in honor of Gordon Parks and his tribute to Marin Luther King Jr.

The museum has scheduled a series of events which will include a free admission tribute ballet performance by the Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey.

There will also be film showings on Friday January 14th and Monday January 17th of Eyes on the Prize: American Civil Rights.

A Lunch & Learn event will be held on both days that will include a reading of the “I Have A Dream” speech by the Fort Scott High School Advanced Drama students on the 14th, and Prisca Barnes speaking on “The Dockum Drugstore Sit-In” event that happened in Wichita.

In addition to all of this, the community is invited and encouraged to bring canned food or cleaning products from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to the museum which is in recognition of King’s Day.

This is a service event that will happen nationally. These canned goods/cleaning products will be presented to The Beacon, a local helping agency. Please, no out-of-date goods.
