Fort Scottians In Pittsburg Community Theater
“The Most EPIC Birthday Party Ever” will happen Friday, June 22 at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium and Convention Center, 503 N. Pine. Directed by Megan Gabehart. The music will be directed by Fort Scott music teacher Mary Jo Harper.
“Pittsburg Community Theatre’s Jr. Starz program is built for 6-12-year-olds who work diligently for two weeks to learn and memorize an entire show, create crafts and props, and more,” Harper said.
“This year, we were able to have two sessions again, meaning that 80 children have had the opportunity to understand the magic of theater!”
“Of those 80 kids, we have four kids from our district! Bianca Pommier and Chrislen Newman are in the Morning Session and Ana Rupprecht and Emma Bin are in the Afternoon Session,” Harper said.
“Wanna see them rock it out? 6 pm for Morning Session Show, 8 pm for Afternoon Session Show. $5 General Admission at the door. “

The weekly Chamber Coffee organized by the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce for Thursday, July 21 will be hosted by Sonic Drive-In, 1705 S. National Ave. at 8 a.m.
Chamber members and guests are invited to attend for networking, refreshments, and to learn about products, services, or new offerings of the host business or organization. Members may make an announcement about their business, organization, or the community by donating one dollar towards the Chamber.

Flags Half-Staff For Fallen Deputies
Governor Colyer Orders Flags to be Flown at Half-staff in Honor of Fallen Deputies
Topeka – In accordance with Executive Order 10-12, Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff state-wide from sun-up until sun-down on Thursday, June 21, 2018, in honor of Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Deputies Theresa “TK” King and Patrick Rohrer who were killed in the line of duty last week.
“These two brave individuals lost their lives protecting the public and we owe them a deep debt of gratitude for their selfless service,” said the Governor. “We pray for their loved ones, as well as all law enforcement officers as we mourn this senseless tragedy.”
A joint funeral will be held for King and Rohrer at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City on Thursday.

Obituary Of Lois Irene Lamb
Lois Irene Lamb, age 86, a resident of rural Bronson, Kansas, passed away early Sunday, June 17, 2018, at the Mercy Hospital in Ft. Scott, Kansas.
She was born March 10, 1932, in Bronson, the daughter of William Harold “Peanut” Rogers and Claribel Petri Stewart Rogers. She graduated from the Bronson High School. Lois married Robert R. Lamb on October 15, 1950, at her family’s home in Bronson. Together, Bob and Lois operated their own dairy farm for many years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and making rugs as well as cooking and taking care of her cats. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Moran.
Survivors include her husband, Bob, of the home; and two sons, R. W. Lamb, of Bronson and Michael Ray Lamb of Pittsburg and two grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Clara Jean Karst of Warsaw, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ruth Kibble.
Pastor Michael Miller and Pastor Mark Davis will conduct funeral services at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June 21st at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel.
Following services, there will be cremation and a private family burial will take place at a later date at the Battlefield Cemetery south of Pleasanton, Kansas.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Bronson Baptist Church and may be left in the care of the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel, P.O. Box 93, Bronson, Kansas 66716. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywitt.com.
Obituary Of Kathryn Aldis
Kathryn Louise Aldis, a former resident of Fort Scott died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, in Mission, KS.
She was born April 17, 1923, the daughter of Winfield Scott Martin and Louise Kathryn (Gimple) Martin on a farm near Pratt, KS. Growing up she was an active 4-H member, winning a blue ribbon on her oatmeal-raisin cookies at the State Fair in Hutchinson, KS. She graduated from Pratt High School in 1941, and from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 1945 as a registered nurse.
She married William Aldis, February 16, 1944, in Kansas City, MO. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary 2 months before Dr. William’s death, April 17, 2010.
Kathryn and William raised two sons, Stephen Aldis and James Aldis, and she enjoyed all their sports and debate activities. She maintained an active role in the lives of her children by serving as room mother and scout leader for both of her boys. Kathryn was a dedicated, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose family was her priority. She unconditionally loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and it gave her great joy to spend time with them. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and being an active and involved grandmother and great-grandmother gave her the greatest happiness in her life.
Kathryn and William loved to travel. They had the opportunity to travel around the world. They were able to visit Hawaii, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Nepal, France, Italy, and England. In 1971, Kathryn and her husband Dr. William volunteered 2 months of service in Vietnam caring for the civilian population.
Kathryn was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Scott and the Miriam Circle. Kathryn was a member of PEO, Chapter FU for over 50 years and was a past president. She was co-chairman of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary Social Committee for many years. She was a member of Pierian Beta Club. She loved traveling, cooking and gardening. Her flowers were always a delight to see on the corner of 12th and Crawford Street.
After Dr. William’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling with their camper across the country, often accompanied by their grandchildren. Kathryn and her husband enjoyed playing cards and participating in potlucks with longtime friends.
Survivors include her granddaughter Anne Williams and great-granddaughter Brooke Williams of Phoenix, AZ, her grandson Ryan Aldis and his wife Amanda Aldis and great-grandchildren, Nora, Asher and Corbin Aldis of Fairway, KS, her daughter-in-law Katie Aldis of Denton, TX, and grandson Keith Aldis of Dallas, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William Aldis, sons Stephen Aldis and James Aldis, and four brothers Elmore Martin, Roy Martin, Merle Martin and Claude Martin.
Pastor Andrew Conard will conduct funeral services at 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 23, 2018, in the Cheney Witt Chapel in Fort Scott, KS
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until service time at the funeral home.
